Arby’s to me is an overlooked Fast Food Option. And there are things you may not know about Arbys. And its great to know right! And this is great information for those people (like myself) that are thrilled to share “Useless Knowledge” while on a road trip or arriving at a “Arbys”.
Did you Know that Arby’s Is One of the Oldest Fast Food Sandwich Chains:
Arby’s was Founded in 1964. And it is older than:
- Subway (1965)
- Wendy’s (1969)
I clearly was born (10 years after Arby’s was) and the more we learn about Fast Food and their Origins, it is hard to not say it is a part of American Life.
Did you Know that Arby’s Was Originally Considered “Upscale Fast Food”:
From the beginning, Arby’s opened, and a roast beef sandwich cost 69¢. While at the same time a McDonald’s burger was around 15¢. This was a significant price difference. And it was done intentionally. Arby’s was positioned as a premium fast-food restaurant, and not a cheap burger place. This has changed, and I’ll add that compared to McDonalds’ Pricing today, they are so similar really. Making me re-think which is better? Okay, be sure to check out “How To Eat Healthy At Arby’s” to see where things are there. We like to be all sharing in the details, facts and even opinions here.
Fun Fact: The Name “Arby’s” Doesn’t Mean Roast Beef:
I have to admit here, that I always believed, and I also was told by friends that it was another way to say Roast Beef. R B or Roast Beef, and they made it Arby’s to be cute. Or so I was to believe till I am now 51 years old writing this. The truth is Arby’s stands for R.B. or “Raffel Brothers” who are the founders of Arby’s. Forrest Raffel, and Leroy Raffel. And their ambition when they started back in 1964 was to have something different from hamburgers. And they did just that.
They Own the “We Have The Meats” Slogan in Fast Food:
Arby’s famous slogan: “We Have The Meats” is their Trademark. And we have all heard it in every Commercial, Televised or Online, Radio or anywhere. Its always their trademark (with a certain recognizable Voice) “We Have the Meats”. And they do.
They sell:
- Roast beef (Clearly Their #1 Focus)
- Brisket (This is Smoked for 13 Hours. This is far more than you would expect from a “Fast Food” Place. Yet it is comparable to many BBQ places I have been)
- Bacon (This is a fun add-on to any Sandwich there)
- Corned beef (We love our Corned Beef and Rueben’s! This is a Key Item we know is at Arby’s)
- Chicken (Probably our least Meat purchases at Arby’s due to our Love for Beef, but it is there!)
- Turkey (This is yummy, and for some reason we really think it is Healthy, maybe we should see “How to Eat Healthy at Arby’s”)
- Ham (There are so many that Love a Great Ham Sandwich)
- Steak (When this is offered in a Sandwich, it is hard to Pass On)
- Prime rib (limited time) and something I have to personally admit I go for there.
- Venison (this is seasonal in some states) While this is extremely unusual for fast food, it definitely is different. I have only seen this in Fuddruckers (are they around? See “What Is Up with Fuddruckers?” For Details!)
And this is key, there are Very few chains with this much meat variety. So for carnivores this is a great place to eat. Or so it would seem. And this is their “Difference in the Marketplace”. They are a focused
