How to Eat Healthy at Arby’s

While we may believe that Arbys is healthier with its Protein Base we wanted to share what we found on How to Eat Healthy at Arby’s. And it is always best to know, so you can make the decisions better when its your option. Some of us eat at Arby’s once in a blue moon, while others frequent the “We Got The Meats” Joint Weekly.

How to Eat Healthy at Arby's

The Main Focus should be on lean protein, portion size, sodium awareness, and avoiding the tasty but calorie-heavy add-ons like cheese sauce, any of the fried sides, and even the shakes. And take it from me, I love the Jalapeno Poppers with the Bronco Sauce. But this is a TREAT, and I’ll have it once in awhile. But in General, while watching what I take in (because I’m working on even more of a smaller “me”) so I avoid them. I still believe that if I eat one from my Grandson its “Calorie Free”, so there is that.

Here’s the best strategy that we have discovered, and when you are aware of it, it becomes the PLAN when you have Arby’s as a food choice, and are really onto being Healthy Focused.

  • The Classic Roast Beef Sandwich is widely considered one of the healthier menu options:
    • This is ~360 calories
    • Contains 23g protein
    • Offers lower calories than many of the specialty sandwiches

Then you can Pair it with:

  • Water or unsweet tea
  • Go with a side salad instead of fries (without the dressing, or use a little of it “on the side” its a packet afterall)

These are what tend to be the smarter food options:

  • Classic Roast Beef
  • Roast Beef Slider
  • Turkey Slider
  • Get a Side Salad (And you can for-go the dressing even)
  • Ordering the Smaller roast beef sandwiches instead of “double” or “half-pound” versions (portion size is more realistic for a healthier diet choice)
  • Try the Bunless roast beef if doing low-carb or keto (just ask for this)

We are going to List out the Items that just carry more Calories, Higher in Sodium, and Higher in Fats. Mainly because of Deep Fried, Saucy, Sugars, you know the Yummy Stuff that helped cause our bigger “Us”:

  • The Yummy (and often on Sale) Beef ’N Cheddar
  • Loaded fries (Yeah, maybe have them on your Birthday. Yeah they are good, but too good for the increase on the scales too)
  • Curly fries (especially large). Especially Large, like is there any other way we order it? These are yummy but absolutely help to grow the tummy!
  • Mozzarella sticks. Ok these should allow us to Burn, not gain. Yet no matter how great they taste, they are not our Weight Loss Friend. But again, for your Birthday?
  • Large wraps. They just have more, and we all know our portion sizes are fine without going “Give me the biggest thing you have!”
  • Milkshakes. These are great for those looking to BULK UP. You know those people that can eat anything and everything and still manage to not gain. Those Lucky Metablism People. We all know them, but they aren’t us. They get these daily. For us, they are something we have when we take a full on Cheat Day and demolish 3 on a Saturday.
  • This one hurst me. The “Smokehouse” and bacon-heavy sandwiches. These taste mighty fine, and really hit the comfort zones from our head to our toes. But they carry far too many calories for Smart Consumption. I think that is the point, so sparingly.

You can help to make Arby’s much healthier with small tweaks as we call them or modifications:

  • You can simply Ask for:
    • “No cheese sauce” and feel your tongue twitch. We get it.
    • “Light sauce”, this is easy.
    • “No mayo”, this is dedication to the cause.
    • “Extra lettuce/tomato” and this is by far the easiest.
  • Order smaller sandwich sizes (they offer the sliders)
  • Skip combo meals (Cut the Fries and Soda)
  • Avoid drinking calories (These are wasteful, and we all know it)
  • If low-carb:
    • Order roast beef sandwiches, with the “No Bun Please”.
  • Go with the Double Roast Beef
  • Order the Half Pound Roast Beef
  • Go with Roast beef without bun (you can do this on any of the Sandwiches)
  • Always remember there are Turkey-based options

Thankfully in this situtation (verses most every other fast food choice) Arby’s actually focuses on protein-focused meals.

Here is a realistic, yet balanced meal at Arby’s Example:

  • The Classic Roast Beef
  • A Side Salad
  • And Water or unsweet tea

This may sound Boring (and we get it) but this definately keeps calories at a lower side with offering great protein balance. And this is a great “in the go and rush” but yet “I’m really working to get into the shape I deserve” mode. And this is great to have as, if stopping at Arby’s I will order my usual. This is a great “usual”.
