How to Eat Healthy At Domino’s Pizza

We all are working on better choices; and there are things we need to be aware of when it comes to How To Eat Healhty at Domino’s Pizza. It is all in choices and mostly portion control. I have to admit, I absolutely Love Pizza. I can tell you there were days I could eat an entire Large Pizza to myself in a single setting. And when in Italy, I tend to do this still. (However as a rule, this calorie intake is going to create a Massive “You”). And while Pizza itself is not considered Weight Loss material, or is some views a “Healhty Food Choice” there is a lot to be said for it. So take a deep breath and enjoy it. Just set some rules to your intake.

How to Eat Healthy At Domino's Pizza

If you are looking to be making the best choice here, “Thin Crust” is the answer. And this is because Thin Crust Typically Has:

  • Fewer or Less calories than Traditional or Pan Crusts
  • Fewer or Less carbohydrates (Less carbs is always the direction to go, have them when you want them and that is Pizza, but look for the Lesser Option).
  • Less fat than Tradition or Pan Crusts
  • Less sodium than Tradition or Pan Crusts

Here is a Good combination suggestion:

  • (Sounds Healthy Even) Thin Crust Veggie
  • (Sounds fancy and Healthy) Thin Crust Pacific Veggie
  • (Sounds Healhty with Protein) Thin Crust with Chicken, oh and Vegetables

Here are the Best toppings:

  • Spinach is Suggested, but I personally like my Pizza to be a Pizza and not a Salad. Saving Spinach for, well a Salad.
  • Mushrooms are Always Great. Especially as they pick up the enhancements of the Sauce and Seasonings added to the Pizza!
  • Tomatoes are in the Sauce, but also as added to the Top of the Pizza. If you ask nicely they can add them after they cook it (which is my suggestion).
  • Onions for Me are Best when Cooked. And they do add to the overall “Garden Flavors” when combined with other ingrediences. I can frankly say that I have never (nor plan on it ever) had just an Onion Pizza.
  • Green peppers are Great to Add and enhance and go with virtually any and all other toppings.
  • Jalapeños if you can stand the Heat. (Favorite Flavor Pizza is Pepperonie, Pineapple, Jalapeño where you get the Salty, Sweet and Spicy/Savory all together).
  • Pineapple (Yes This Belongs on your Pizza!). Fun Fact, Pineapple is great for a Healthy Fruit. And it adds some zing to the Pizza!

Keep in mind that Vegetables add fiber; also adding nutrients without adding a lot of calories. Making them a Great Choice for a Healthy Option with your Domino’s Pizza.

Many people forget that Chicken is an Option. You can go with Chicken and Pineapple for a great taste option for instance. Or sub out the Pizza Sauce, for BBQ and add in the Chicken, Pineapple and say Onion and make it a BBQ event. Healthier than many options, and great for a change.

Choose Lean Protein:

Better of the Protein Options (for keeping it more lean):

  • Grilled chicken
  • Ham (in moderation or realize that Pork and Health are not always in alignment)

You want to Limit these (though if you are having luck with Portion Control, we always like to add in the Meats):

  • Pepperoni
  • Sausage
  • Bacon
  • Beef

As they have more Fat and Sodium content. Though it is all about overall consumption. And I can tell you, I lost my weight, and keep it off, and I have any of these at will. Its portion control. Again I’ll tell you that the brān® is AMAZING for this.

Go Easy on the Cheese:

Things to Consider:

  • Light cheese (Not ever on my to-do for this, but if you aren’t into the Cheese as I am, great go with it)
  • Regular cheese works. Extra Cheese when you are more balanced and can add it in. This is portion control again. I’ll have Extra Cheese on occasion (like a playoff Game) but knowing that I am going to not have something else to allow for the Portion and Calorie Intake.

The Extra Cheese can Increase things Signifantly in Fat and Sodium. However, Portions and Calorie Intake are the main concerns.

A Garden Salad or a Chicken Caesar (go easy on the Caesar Dressing though)

The Dressing in the Main Issue with the “Gotcha” Calories, Sugars and harmful Seed-Oils. If you can avoid the dressing, or get it on the side and use sparingly. Getting a Garden Salad and losing the Dressing is wise. Or sparingly use some if you must.

The Better options:

  • Plain chicken wings without Sauce. Frankly I will trade one of two pieces of Pizza for 2 or 3 wings if I am adding Wings to my Food Setting. And I’ll have a hard time without Sauce, but will get some on the side to dip a tad, or dab some hot sauce (virtually 0 Calories) onto the wing.
  • Boneless chicken; without the heavy sauces is another way.

The “more calorie” and Less healthy:

  • This replaces Pizza Slices: Stuffed cheesy bread. Not exactly worth it for me, but its an option.
  • You can also sub a piece of Pizza (if you were going to have 2) with Parmesan bread bites
  • You can choose the calories, forgo a slice and go with some Loaded tots
  • And you can choose less pizza, and add Cheesy dips

I’ll tell you though, if you are wanting to slim down, its great to forgo the Sides. Do them on special occasions (but also balance the Intake overall).

You should know (and I am sure you do) that Many dipping sauces are “surprisingly high” in:

  • (This Matters) Calories
  • (This Matters) Sugar
  • (This Matters, but not as much as People May Think) Sodium

Salt or Sodium Intake is far less of my concern. We need to realize that Sodium (Salt) is not a Weight Gain issue. Calories are. So focus on the Sugar, and Calories. Sodium be aware, however its not the enemy to be concerned with like Sugar and Excessive Calories to your Weight Goals.

As with “Logic” be sure to consume small amounts of:

  • Marinara (In Dips and Such as Calories and Sugar prevail here)
  • Ranch (This is not a weight loss friend)
  • Garlic sauce (Usually loaded with Seed Oils, Fake Butters and other unwise choices)
Domino's Pizza

Doesn’t matter what it is, Even a Healthy Pizza, can become a Horrible Choice overall if you Eat Too Much. I’ll really through this in, brān® is an amazing Friend to anyone looking for help with Portion Control.

  • 2 slices thin crust veggie pizza
  • A Side salad (while suggested, didn’t you just have salad on your Pizza?)
  • Then go for the Water or unsweetened tea. The Beverage is a slippery slope, and I lost weight with Diet Sodas, or the “zero sugar” sodas when I wanted one. Though more and more, I reduce my sodas to almost never. They just don’t make it great when you have reduced your Sugar Intake and Addictions. So hang in there.
  • Thin Crust Pizza (Of course, the Bread is not a friend, so thinner is better)
  • Light cheese (Or Regular, extra is for your Birthday!)
  • Grilled chicken for your Topping (Extra if you are spendy!)
  • Pinneapple to give you the Sweet and Sour pop with the Chicken.
  • Mushrooms and Onions (as you would)
  • Want to Change it Up, go with BBQ Sauce instead of the Marinara on the Pizza.
  • Side garden salad is suggested, but again, you can add Green Peppers to the Pizza too.
  • Then its a matter of 2 slices (Portion Control). Save the rest for next Meal, or tomorrow’s Lunch.

This will provide you with protein, vegetables and fun. It is also fewer calories than standard pizza combos, and if you are worried with the BBQ Sause, you can always go “Light” on the BBQ Sauce.
