There are some easy and effective ways to Protect Yourself From Scams. And the wisest is to Not Reply or Answer anyone you are not aware of. We all have Smartphones, and should enter anyone we know or want to know (lol) into our Contacts.
If you get a Text Message with a Phone Number to Call, it is wise to just Google, ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, GROK, or any other AI Search Engine or Service and Ask:
who is 8444691166 or What Can You Tell Me about the Company that uses 84446911668 or what can you tell me about 8444691166 and anyone tied to this number
This Example is a REAL one from my own Scammer Attempts: When I asked ChatGPT “who is 8444691166” I received this:
The phone number 844-469-1166 is widely reported as suspicious / likely scam-related, often tied to fake debt collection messages.
What reports say: Note: This is Exactly what happened, exactly!
- Linked to a name like “Lone Star Business Solutions” (not well verified)
- People report texts claiming “we are filing paperwork” with a fake account number
- Messages often:
- Use incorrect or very old names
- Come from one number, but tell you to call this 844 number
- Try to create urgency or fear (legal threats)
- Many users explicitly label it as a scam or fraudulent debt collector
🚨 Bottom line: Note: The Internet Fully is aware this is a Scam. They can answer it, and inform us. We need the officials to be tied in. I also think this should be taken to court on LIVE TV (or Live Streaming Service these days) and their backgrounds, their locations and more be fully shared with the Public. Anyone tied to these should be ashamed of themselves and publicly put on notice. They operate from anywhere, and what feels like everywhere.
👉 This number is NOT reliably associated with a legitimate, verifiable company (and who-ever is providing them with telco services should be alerted, and their Service Agreements should allow them to stop providing telco services)
👉 Strong indicators point to a scam / phishing attempt (and again, the telco service should be alerted)
Note: ChatGPT then tells you: What you should do:
- Do NOT call back (you never want to engage the criminals)
- Do NOT reply or give any info (you never want to engage the criminals)
- Block the number (you never want to engage the criminals)
- If concerned, check your credit directly (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion) instead of responding to texts
While this is One Example. It is also very great advice. Now know, they did say there was a file number with my Name being Set Up, and to Call Them Right Away. I have nothing pending, nor would I be expecting anyone to put a file against me. Especially from a Firm I have never done business with ever. And this is a wide spread Scam. What I do not understand is how they get on doing this over and over without repercussions.
Here is a Easy Way to Protect Yourself From Scams. This is a Huge Scam Process, and frankly it got me good. Learned a Lesson. DO NOT Answer Calls from “Google” or “Facebook” or “Instagram”. They will never call you. They will alert you in your account (directly there only). Let’s Break This Down, it is masterful and they are very clever:
Say you get a Call, and your Caller ID says “Spam Likely” or Google, or Facebook, or YouTube. Would they need to be calling you? Probably Not. So that should be a RED Flag (neon Red) already. Go to ChatGPT, Google, or any of the other AI Search Tools and use the Prompt/Question of:
What can you tell me about 831-316-9919: (This is a real life example from me as well and it was a “Spam Likely” notification)
Here’s what I found on (831) 316-9919:
(Chat adds a fun Image)📞 Likely identity
- This number is listed as a contact number for a bail bonds company in California, specifically:
- “Affordable Bail Bonds” in Santa Cruz, CA (NOTE: I am not in any need for this service and therefore this is not a Valid Call for me in the slightest)
⚠️ But there’s a catch (And this is where the information and understanding of even more things to be aware of are presented)
- Separate lookup data shows:
- Reports of spam / robocalls associated with this number (So its being used and reported by others as a robocalls/spam number. And probably because of all the Marketing I do, have done, continue to do, I can expect these daily. Even with Laws that supposedly protect this. This is why I feel that the Companies providing the Telco Services should be notified, and be nudged to follow their Service Contracts and to deny the Unlawful Businesses from Services)
(Chat Goes On here & with a Cool Image) 👉 That means one of these is likely happening:
- It could be a legitimate business number that gets flagged (less common), OR
- More likely → the number is being spoofed (faked) by scammers
- This is VERY common with local-looking numbers (831 area code = California coast)
Here is more from ChatGPT:🚨 Bottom line
- Possible legit business connection: Bail bonds (Santa Cruz, CA) (not the case)
- But: Strong indication of spam/scam activity reported (probably the case)
- Risk level: ⚠️ Moderate to high (treat as untrusted)
✅ What you should do
- If you don’t expect a call from a bail bonds company → ignore / block it (Blocked it is. Though I want to do more, even this Article will at least give another reference of this Number in particular being robocall, etc).
- Do not give:
- Personal info
- Payment info
- If they left a voicemail claiming something urgent (legal, jail, etc.), that’s a common scare tactic (So this is where I can make a Great Point. I do not use my Voicemail. Anyone I know and work with will text/sms me or call back. I know who they are, if they are in my contacts and will message or call them asap. Voicemail, dead service. Why listen, then call. If they called you, then call back, it must be important. And if its not, they’ll text. Easy).
Following the Same Protocol, here is a live example with 8019809955. Now I get these regardless of where I am. My Cell Phone is a Utah (801) Area Code. So I notice that I get SPAM/SCAM/ROBOCALLS from the same Area Code I have my Phone in. And they are always a waste of time. I also get them when I arrive into a City, from the Area Code(s) of that City. This is most frustrating because you may be getting calls from your Hotel or Resort (in our case) or from a Local Business you are working with, and maybe not having their numbers programmed yet. So this is where you may answer and waste your time with a Scammer, and then who knows who else they will sell it off too right?. So I check. Same Process, going to Google, ChatGPT, GROK, Co-Pilot, or such:
What can you tell me about 8019809955
Here’s the real, straight answer on 801-980-9955 👇
(ChatGPT in this case, gives me)📍 Basic info
- Area code 801 = Utah (Salt Lake City / surrounding areas) NOTE: I am aware of this already, and this is my point. Its a scammers deception to work with AI and Smart Processes to use numbers that are close, or in the same area, all to get you on the phone. They get so crafty, and its horrible.
- No verified, reputable business or person clearly tied to this exact number This is usually enough. Done. Blocked. Move on with the day.
(ChatGPT goes on)⚠️ What the data suggests
- The only “listings” found are generic reverse lookup pages with no real ownership info (reverse-phone-search-14532.storage.googleapis.com) In case you didn’t have enough information to just block and move on.
- That’s actually a red flag, because:
- Legit businesses usually show up clearly (Google, Yelp, BBB, etc.)
- “Blank” or vague results are common with:
- VoIP numbers
- Spoofed caller IDs
- Lead gen / telemarketing systems
And to give even more on this, ChatGPT adds: 🚨 Likely scenario
Based on patterns with numbers like this:
👉 Most likely = telemarketing, robocall, or spoofed scam call
Common uses: (Just for clarification, and probably Right. I get a lot of “Travel Companies” that I never game permission to contact me too. Get on a list, they share it over and over with others. So the more you do not respond, the better. You answer, you respond, they now have a Lead that answers).
- “Hey, we tried to reach you about…”
- Insurance / solar / debt / “account issue”
- Local-looking number to get you to answer
Love this about ChatGPT, what is the🔥 Risk level
- Moderate
- Not confirmed dangerous, but definitely not trusted
Then there is the: ✅ What to do
- If you don’t recognize it → don’t answer / don’t call back
- If they:
- Ask for info ❌
- Create urgency ❌
- Mention accounts you don’t recognize ❌
👉 Block immediately
Common Sense with this addition from ChatGPT:💡 Quick reality check
If it were important:
- They’d leave a clear voicemail
- Or contact you through an official channel
Common Sense and Things to Share, so you can Protect Yourself From Scams. This is from a lifetime of learning and from dealing with things that have ripped off people for years. Myself Included, my Mother, my Friends, my Clients. Experience Based. And while it will seem Common Sense, when there is a scare or an emotion charged event, Common Sense is often the thing we let slip. And then we create regrets. So here goes:
- If you find yourself on the phone, or online connection with something, and it feels off at all. Pause, or even Wait. Slow it down. Think it out. Delay.
- Ask to Call Them Back. Get a number to call them. Check it with ChatGPT, Google, Grok, Co-Pilot, etc. I have seen this turn into a “Not an issue, I’ll call you back in 10 minutes”. If they are not able to get a call back, that is an interesting flag.
- I get their details, giving none of mine. Pause, and wait. Nothing is going to happen if you delay. Other than Scammers usually run.
- Especially with Virus or Alerts on the Computer. These are almost always a scam. Disguised as Services to help you, they often lead to your access being compromised. This can lead to Bank Account break-ins and so much more.
- NEVER allow them access to your Computer. Do not run programs they (people you do not know) email you. I cannot explain this enough. Do not rush to open things. Be sure to mentally double check it. Do you know what the file is? If not, do not open it. At least do not rush to open and ask later. Ask first.
- Emails, if you do not know the Sender. Do not ever open a file. EVER. Highlighting this as super important. This is where virus issues arise. Someone forwards you a Joke, and there is an Image. Do not download it. Friends send things without knowing it could be harmful all the time. Avoid it. Nothing is worth the pain of dealing with Viruses. And all Viruses are about MONEY, and how they can steal yours. They are used to backdoor into your Computers and more. Never open an email from someone you do not know. If you do, do not open any file or attachment. And if you are not expecting an attachment from that person. Do not open it. You can always email them what it is about, or why they sent it to you. Before you Open it. Slow it down, take a breath and pause.
